A New Dawn in Malaysia

The Call Of Rakyat

Heyyooo People, for the past few weeks our beloved homeland experienced the "storm" which eventually turned the country upside down. Obviously, it has not been any easy for the Rakyat in Malaysia to adapt to the living standard that is getting higher with the declining economy these few years.

The Rakyat had been waiting for so long and at last, to cry out to seek for a change in the country. Indeed, the opposition parties made the greatest up-sets ever in the electoral history and have grabbed a total of five states over from the government. By God's grace, I do hope and pray for the country to run well by the mixed government. Nonetheless, the new government also bears a great responsibility by meeting the Rakyat's needs from every aspects, which is a great challenge to deal with(by fulfilling this list). Whether it is Barisan National or the Oppositions, these parties are not elected by the rakyat to be the "king" to misuse the authority but to be our "servant" by bringing the country forward to the national goal of 2020.

Remember, we the Rakyat have the power to select who to be our leaders and eliminate those who are not getting their works done well. It already seems to be possible when the Rakyat woke up and stood up for themselves that even taught the unbeatable government a great lesson. We slogged and blogged, we wrote and re-wrote, we vote and revolt. The outcome came to be exactly what the Rakyat has wanted it to be. I just want the people to know, we have the power to change our motherland's destiny and stray away from any obstacles that prevent our country from growing. If the country needs a change, let there be a change.

In order to pursue prosperity, all the Rakyat, irregardless of skin color, have to take heed and unite to make Malaysia a dreamland that all the citizens in other countries envy. Together we can achieve and reach the high-end and enjoy peace & prosperity ahead that's waiting for us.

I Love Malaysia,
D

Managing the burden of victory

Victory of the people

Now that the political monopoly has been broken in a number of states, and the future prospect of breaking the same at the federal level has become an attainable goal rather than a dream, the opposition (now the ruling party in five states) has a mountain of work ahead. So much hope is pinned on their shoulders.

Among the most important things that its leaders must do are:

(i) Never to forget, not even in their sleep, that their much-improved victory is not their victory, but the victory of the people; thus they must serve the people with humility and dedication; they should be proud, not of their success, but of the people who have enabled them to succeed;

(ii) To quickly learn the ropes of governing, although teething problems are inevitable; be transparent and frank with the people, and remedy any errors as soon as these are discovered - while the people expect perfect honesty, they will be forgiving about imperfections in the execution of tasks, when things are done transparently;

(iii) To identify and divide tasks into various categories: those that require urgent attention, short-term goals, long-term policies, and so on; set timelines for each task, though not cast in stone, and make every effort to keep to them; engage or employ the right people for the right jobs and outsource if need be;

(iv) Pay immediate attention to the most burning issues, such as the economy, poverty, equitable distribution of resources and opportunities, security, etc.

(v) Set up effective oversight mechanisms immediately, especially in relation to financial matters, the processing and granting of permits and contracts, and corruption in the public sector; this must include strict monitoring of the members of the Opposition themselves, to ensure that no corruption or cronyism is practised;

(vi) Set up an effective mechanism to receive and address complaints from the public; and

(vii) Ensure that there is no in-fighting among leaders, for this will quickly destroy the faith that Malaysians have placed in them by giving them this unprecedented opportunity.

The challenge for the opposition in the coming months and years is a huge one. There will be many more ways to fail in this challenge than to succeed.

The parties have to be always vigilant, honest and humble. Their members will not be exempt from frequent visits by the demons of human weaknesses.

But the same people who have put them there can as easily reverse the decision if they should betray the faith. Checks and balances are essential for any system of government.

Whatever their political persuasions may be, Malaysians will benefit from the change. Let us all get down to hard, honest work.

What Drives A Blogger

Being absent for several months in this blog, simply because i was just too busylazy to touch it and lost the enthusiasm to surf any other blogs other than kennysia.com(the most hilarious malaysian blog I've seen thus far). But in this world of blogs, vlogs, or whatever "logs" that you can come out with, I must admit that blogging is actually quite addictive, and especially when you have wireless access around, it can even get you to...

THIS
Mummy : "my son is so smart that he multi-tasks where-ever he goes!"

Ahahaa~!!..You'll be surprise that some people actually do it. That way, blogging can actually be bad for you. Yet, it can be very powerful or getting oneself into trouble like below:

Student Blogger In Trouble
2007-10-04 11:22:00

KLANG: A young blogger caused a storm in her school after she wrote that some fellow students had exchanged notes during a recent examination. The Form Four girl said the copycats were unfair to others, adding that those who cheated eventually scored high marks while those who did not, got low grades. She further claimed that the teachers who knew what was going on during the examination deliberately ignored the incident. Her grouses prompted the school authorities to order her to remove her entry in the blog. A schoolmate of the 16-year-old girl said she broke down and felt she had been victimised merely because she wanted justice to prevail. The friend said the blogger had named the alleged copycat students and the teachers, and this had probably upset the school authorities. It is learnt that the matter came to light when the named students told their parents about the blog entry. The parents then went to the school, demanding action against the young blogger.
